Volker Koepp (born 22.6.1944), director, screenwriter, cinematographer, actor, producer, production manager. In 2014, Volker Koepp received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class from Federal President Joachim Gauck on the occasion of the Day of German Unity. From the citation: "Volker Koepp became a chronicler of East German contemporary history with his documentaries. His style of sensitively showing people in the everyday life of their homeland, which is shaped by the changeful history of the 20th century, is unique.
